The Day at the Capitol provides an opportunity to meet with legislators and their staff regarding critical issues that are important to the occupational therapists, and this year’s priorities centered around increasing access to OT services in mental and behavioral health, improving access to the health care delivery system, and promoting access to cost-effective, high-quality programs like Medicaid and CHIP.

Grace Franko Barlow’s ’18, OTD, OTR, passion for supporting individuals with Down syndrome has been a defining aspect of her career and personal journey.

As an undergraduate student at TCU, she dedicated her time to shadowing Sodi Matthews, former occupational therapist at KinderFrogs, TCU’s early intervention program that provides a developmentally appropriate educational environment for children with Down syndrome and other developmental delays.

Michael D. Justiss, Ph.D., has been hired as founding director for TCU’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program.

The new OTD program will meet a critical need for rehabilitation professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, the state and the nation.
