Admission Requirements
Completion or near-completion of a bachelor's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited college or university.
Submit unofficial transcripts from all prior institutions; TCU students exempt.
Maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 in the last 60 credit hours.
Complete one college-level statistics course before enrolling.
Provide three recommendation letters addressing academic abilities, interpersonal skills and potential for social work practice, with at least one from an academic advisor or instructor and one from a field instructor.
Include a current resume or vitae with your application.
Write a 750- to 1,500-word statement addressing your motivation for pursuing an MSW, alignment with social work values, strengths, experiences and future goals.
Also, specify two TCU social work faculty members of interest while discussing research and teaching interests, and their relevance to your social work development, connecting them, if possible, to the faculty members selected.
Applicants seeking a waiver of the 3.0 GPA minimum admissions requirement can submit a one-page "Petition for Academic Exception" statement to the MSW admissions committee.
In this statement, applicants should explain why the GPA requirement should be waived, emphasizing their capabilities and readiness for a rigorous graduate program.
This statement must be included with the rest of the application documents.
