#1 – Nurse Practitioner

Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with additional education. Extra schooling allows these professionals to find career opportunities in family practice, internal medicine, community health centers, rural health centers, academic health centers, nurse-managed clinics, school-based clinics and retail clinics. The primary care provider shortage provides an excellent opportunity for nurse practitioners to fill in the gaps without taking on the rising costs of medical school and increasing limitations on patient treatment.

#3 – Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-language pathologists are expert communicators who treat communication and swallowing disorders in people of all ages. Employment of speech-language pathologists is expected to grow by 21% between 2014 and 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

#5 – Registered Nurse

Employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 16% from 2014 to 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

#8 – Nurse Anesthetist

Certified registered nurse anesthetists provide patients with anesthesia, pain management and occasional emergency services. Nurse anesthetists are some of the highest-earning practitioners in nursing and the field is expected to see 16% growth between 2016 and 2026, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
