Texas Christian University is hosting its 10th Annual Chance to Dance, a free prom-like event for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the Brown-Lupton University Union on TCU’s campus.

This story follows the journey of Meghan Ruelas ’07 MS, CCC-SLP, and Kenneth Ruelas ’07 (’22 MBA), a dynamic couple who discovered their passion for speech-language pathology at TCU who aim to make the therapy experience less transactional and more relational.

TCU has been supporting first-generation college students through its TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) since 1997. Some of Harris College’s First-Gen students share encouragement and advice to others navigating their First-Gen journey.

Kristie is the owner of a tempo Voice Center, a private practice based in Fort Worth. Her primary focus is assessing and treating people with voice disorders, especially singers.

Graduate speech-language pathology students in the Davies School of Communication Sciences & Disorders recently visited Sydney, Australia as part of their summer study abroad course, “Evidence-Based Practice in Speech-Language Pathology: Developing a Global Perspective Through Australian Study.” Learn how their exploration of evidence-based practice, cultural diversity, and issues of health advocacy in the land down under enhanced their learning and growth at Harris College in their own words.
