Students in the TCU Davies School of Communication Sciences & Disorders' Deaf & Hard of Hearing Studies program learn to improve the listening, speech, language and literacy skills of those who are deaf and hard of hearing. Prior to graduation, students are mentored by certified educators and gain experience through teaching in real-world classrooms and clinical settings. Students also take advantage of opportunities to travel abroad and teach in general education settings.
Upon graduation, these health care professionals establish careers in parental support and early intervention roles, teaching American Sign Language (ASL) in preschools, elementary, middle and high schools. They are also equipped to become directors at Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD). Other professional settings include government agencies, and hospital and clinical settings.
