The goal of Harris College’s Academic Resource Center is to enhance the overall student experience and prepare graduates for a lifelong career in health sciences. To help achieve this, a new program was formed that combines the former Harris Associates and Harris Fellows to create Harris Ambassadors.
Harris Ambassadors are a group of individuals who will serve as official student representatives of Harris College. Its mission is to support and enhance the College’s undergraduate and graduate student experience through active participation as experience facilitators, peer advisors and student influencers.
The creation of the Harris Ambassadors program marks an exciting new chapter for Harris College. These students are not only leaders within our community but also embody the values and aspirations of our college. Their involvement ensures that both current and prospective students have the support they need to thrive academically and personally," said Stacy Dissinger ’20, director of the Harris Academic Resource Center.
The benefits of becoming a Harris Ambassador are numerous. Participants receive unique professional development opportunities, engage in academic-focused programming and gain valuable leadership experience. The commitment lasts for one academic year, during which Ambassadors play a vital role in shaping the college’s student experience.
Students have already seen the impact of this role on their personal and academic growth.
From deeper connections and conversations with professors to making new friends and connect with incoming students, being a Harris Ambassador is a privilege that continues to reveal a multitude of opportunities daily," said movement science student Ashlyn Dooley ’25.
Harris Ambassadors are selected based on their demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; active participation in student organizations, campus activities or community service; a strong academic record and a genuine interest in their academic area of study, TCU and its students. They can also participate across four areas of involvement: prospective students, current students, digital marketing initiatives and outreach within the TCU community.
Becoming a Harris Ambassador has provided me with advanced academic strategies that have improved my study techniques,” nursing student AJ White ’26 explains. “Personally, this role has encouraged me to think more deeply and explore my potential within my major.”
Both Dooley and White highlight the profound experiences and opportunities that come with being a Harris Ambassador. From interacting with incoming first-year students and answering their questions about Harris College, to establishing academic relationships with STEM scholars and doctors, the role offers students a glimpse into their future careers while expanding their network and leadership skills.
