TCU Jasmine KamranJasmine Kamran, DNP, CRNA, recently completed the Advanced Pain Management Fellowship (APMF) at the School of Nurse Anesthesia at TCU and has been selected as the new Emerging Leader Fellow by the National Board for Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). This prestigious fellowship is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and dedication to the field of nurse anesthesia.

Her mentor and Director of the APMF Jackie Rowles, DNP, MBA, MA, CRNA, ANP-BC, NSPM-C, FNAP, FAANA, FAAN nominated her for the Emerging Leader Fellowship.

She is not afraid to take on a challenge but does it with grace and has a positiveness about her that makes others lean in, said Rowles. “She will not just benefit from serving as the Emerging Leader Fellow but will blossom and continue to give back throughout her career.”

Throughout Kamran’s academic and professional career, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional work ethic, preparedness and leadership qualities that set her apart from her peers.

Kamran began her journey in health care with a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry followed by a Master of Science in medical science, both from Indiana University, and eventually returned to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

But it was when she pursued a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) at Marian University that she began to truly distinguish herself through her outstanding academic and clinical performance.

Her commitment to the field extends beyond her studies as she actively contributes to the Black Girls Do STEM organization as both a mentor and clinical ambassador, working to inspire and support young women of color pursuing careers in STEM.

Additionally, Kamran’s involvement with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee for the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) further reflects her dedication to fostering inclusivity and equity within the profession.

The NBCRNA, which is the credentialing body for the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification exam and the Nonsurgical Pain Management specialty board exam, is dedicated to ensuring patient safety through rigorous certification and continuing education standards. Kamran’s selection as an Emerging Leader Fellow aligns with the NBCRNA’s mission to elevate provider quality and advance the field of nurse anesthesia.

As an Emerging Leader Fellow, Kamran will have the opportunity to further develop her leadership skills, engage in high-level professional development and contribute to shaping the future of nurse anesthesia practice, significantly impacting the field and benefitting the broader health care community.
