Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., a professional organization for registered professional and student nurses, has awarded the Aliene Carrington Ewell National Scholarship (ACE) to nursing senior Megan Carlos ’25.
This scholarship supports the educational endeavors of future nursing leaders. Carlos’ achievement highlights her dedication and hard work, as well as the high standards upheld by the TCU nursing program.
Winning this award felt like a sign that I am on the right path — a powerful affirmation that my efforts and sacrifices are paying off,” shared Carlos. “I am filled with renewed confidence and determination to excel as a nursing student and, eventually, as a registered nurse. This recognition fuels my passion and commitment to making a meaningful impact in the health care field.”
Carlos, who serves as the President of the Lampion Club for the Lambda Eta Alpha Beta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi, manages a range of responsibilities.
She is not only a hard-working nursing student, but also an active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and a dedicated mother to her 22-month-old son. With nearly a decade of experience, Carlos advanced from a new graduate nurse to a Senior Lead Nurse of Endocrinology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She continues to work as an LVN in Fort Worth while pursuing her nursing education.
Carlos’ future goal is to work in the intensive-care unit (ICU), where she hopes to gain valuable experience as a registered nurse. Looking ahead, she plans to become a nurse practitioner, aiming to embody the qualities of an exceptional healthcare professional and share her knowledge with future generations to “develop and elevate the field of nursing.”
Megan is a perfect recipient for the Aliene Carrington Ewell National Scholarship from Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.,” said Professor Glenda Daniels, Ph.D., RN, CNS, CGRN. “The sorority’s motto is ‘Service for Humanity’ which she exemplifies through her leadership of Chi Eta Phi and her dedication to compassion and empathy for others.”
