TCU Nursing is offering two sessions for Nurse Camp in the summer of 2025. The camp is open to students entering their junior or senior year of high school in fall 2025. The program provides a unique opportunity to immerse participants in hands-on learning, guided by TCU nursing faculty and students. Attendees will gain essential insights into the nursing field, including learning vital patient care skills like wound care, assessing patients, taking vital signs, and understanding medical terminology. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of effective communication, the integration of anatomy, physiology, and math in patient care, and real-world applications through hospital visits and interactions with human patient simulators.
In addition to skill-building activities, participants will complete an American Heart Association CPR course and explore what it means to be part of TCU’s prestigious nursing community. By the end of the camp, students will have a clearer understanding of nursing's dynamic role in healthcare and the educational pathways available at TCU.
Session One: Sunday, June 22 – Friday, June 27, 2025
Session Two: Sunday, July 6 – Friday, July 11, 2025
Campers can expect to:
- Learn from TCU Nursing faculty and students.
- Practice effective communication skills.
- Learn nursing skills such as assessing patients, caring for wounds, taking vital signs and using medical terminology.
- Learn how nurses use knowledge of anatomy and physiology, math and systems to care for patients.
- Interact with human patient simulators.
- Tour a local hospital.
- Complete an American Heart Association CPR course.
- Gain insight into TCU and the TCU Nursing program.
Cost
The cost of attendance is $980 per camper and includes housing for five nights in TCU housing, meals, T-shirts, a stethoscope and all activities. While limited, scholarships are available for accepted participants. More information will be provided in the acceptance email.
How to Apply
Those interested should submit the application form and essay, current high school transcript and recommendation form by March 31, 2025. Enrollment is limited to 40 students per camp, so be sure to apply early!
