TCU nurses

Nurse Practitioner students in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences achieved a perfect pass rate for first-time test takers on the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification exam.

The ANCC certification exam is widely recognized as one of the leading national board exams for nurse practitioners.

“We are incredibly proud of our nurse practitioner students and faculty,” Kimberly Posey, associate professor of professional practice and director of graduate nursing, said. “Achieving a 100% first-time pass rate on the ANCC certification exam across our Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner tracks reflects our shared commitment to academic excellence and clinical readiness. It’s an exciting moment for the Horned Frog graduate nursing community.”

TCU’s BSN to DNP Nurse Practitioner programs combine advanced coursework with extensive supervised clinical hours, preparing students for both the certification exam and their future careers. The curriculum emphasizes critical areas such as clinical judgment, evidence-based care, health equity and interprofessional collaboration, ensuring that graduates are not only highly skilled but also prepared to provide exceptional care in varied health care settings.

For students, passing the ANCC certification exam is a crucial step in entering the workforce as certified, licensed nurse practitioners. The 100% pass rate not only reinforces TCU’s reputation for academic excellence but also reassures prospective students that they are joining a program with a proven track record of success, Posey explained.

This achievement also has broader implications for TCU’s clinical partners, who rely on the university’s graduates to deliver high-quality care in a variety of health care environments. Posey said the perfect pass rate further strengthens the trust between TCU and its clinical partners, ensuring that students are well-equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving health care landscape.

“With this outstanding result, TCU continues to be a top choice for aspiring nurse practitioners, providing a foundation for students to excel in their careers and contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of the communities they serve,” Posey said.
