TCU Nursing students at Glenwood Park for TCU Day of Service 2026

Since 2022, more than 760 TCU Nursing, TCU students and community volunteers have removed over 20 tons of waste from Glenwood Park.

This year, graduate nursing students in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Science are once again participating in TCU Day of Service by cleaning up the park during the university-wide event April 11.

“Our graduate nursing students are Registered Nurses and will be out providing community education as part of the Prescribing Life Outdoors and Real Exploration (RxPLORE™) initiative,” said Vicki Brooks, associate professor of professional practice in nursing. “This initiative aligns with the TCU strategic priority of community engagement, as well as health equity and experiential learning.”

Graduate nursing students will be boots on the ground, supporting cleanup and environmental health activities. Glenwood Park has served as the primary focus of sustained intervention efforts for the past three-and-a-half years. The effort has helped facilitate collaboration between TCU and more than 20 Fort Worth-based organizations and has continued advocacy support for a Glenwood Park bond proposal planned for May 2026.
