Research by Austin Graybeal ’21 Ph.D., assistant professor of kinesiology in Harris College, was recently published. But his work on GLP-1 medications and the link between muscle loss and fat began back during his time as a doctoral student at TCU, stemming from his dissertation, when he led an early group raising the question of GLP-1 medications and muscle loss (termed fat-free mass loss), several months before the first GLP-1 medication was FDA approved specifically for weight loss.
