A decade after a pivotal phone call helped launch her first NIH-funded research project, TCU professor Emily Lund is helping cultivate the next generation of federally funded researchers. Guided by Dean Bernard Rousseau's commitment to mentorship and research excellence, Harris College continues to strengthen its research enterprise, culminating in the college's first institutionally awarded NIH R01 grant and a growing culture of collaborative discovery.

Recent Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Nursing graduate Katie Jannusch ’26 placed third in the 2026 Dr. Hope Babette Tang Humanism in Healthcare Essay Contest.

Of the nearly 200 incoming nursing students in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences this fall, one of them has been dreaming of coming to Texas Christian University since she was little. And that dream is now becoming a reality.

Karina Jimenez Torres ’26 just graduated with a triple degree from TCU, including her bachelor's in social work. She plans on continuing her studies and is enrolled for her master's in social work in the fall.

A collaboration effort in the works for over a year has now come to fruition, with Texas Christian University’s Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences social work program and a Neeley School of Business consulting club, Student Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations, partnering with a local nonprofit serving children.

Two Texas Christian University programs that work hand in hand to prepare students for a bright future are Army ROTC and Nursing. Having commissioned about 60 nurses since 2011, TCU’s Army ROTC program is one of the top producers of nurses for the U.S. Army, and the innovative and dedicated education students receive prepares them for a career in both fields.

This year marks 50 years of TCU’s Miller Speech & Hearing Clinic (MSHC), which teaches future clinicians how to diagnose and treat individuals with swallowing, speech, language and hearing disorders through a working clinic that serves Fort Worth and beyond.

The annual Three-Minute Thesis Competition featured array of topics. The event is open to any graduate student in Harris College who is working on a research project, such as a thesis, dissertation or other project. Given the opportunity to describe their work to a general audience in three minutes or less, winners receive a gift card and the opportunity to compete at the university level.

TCU faculty member Crystal Smith joined 250 occupational therapy professionals at Texas Occupational Therapy Association’s Day at the Capitol to advocate for increased access to OT services. Representing TCU, she emphasized the importance of legislative support for the profession, highlighting efforts to improve healthcare access and licensure portability.
